Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation scholarship applications available online at http://hryf-d5000.org/, deadline is JANUARY 31st. Requirements are:
1. A graduating Hawaii high school senior applying as a full-time student to an accredited 4-year college or university in Hawaii and the U.S. mainland to earn a baccalaureate degree. A full-time student shall be defined as taking a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours per semester.
2. Must be a U.S. citizen and legal resident of Hawaii.
3. Ineligible are Rotarians or their spouse, children, grandchildren, stepchildren, brothers or sisters. Also, a student entering one of the U.S. Military Academies or who receives a Full Scholarship is ineligible.

FIRE is pleased to announce that we are now accepting submissions for the fourth annual "Freedom in Academia" essay contest. The contest is open to high school students anywhere in the country who will be graduating in 2012 and attending college in the fall of 2012. To enter, students should watch two short FIRE documentaries—FIRE in Action: Valdosta State University and Think What We Think Or Else: Thought Control on the American Campus—(http://thefire.org/article/13438.html) and write an essay explaining how the featured universities violated the First Amendment freedoms of their students. Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they meet all of the following criteria:

Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian Pacific Islander American** or Hispanic American

Are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States

Have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED

Will enroll for the first time at a U.S. located, accredited*** college or university (with the exception of students concurrently pursuing a high school diploma) in the fall of 2012 as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student. First-time college enrollees can also be GED recipients.

Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities

Meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria

Have completed and submitted all three required forms: the student’s application (Nominee Personal Information Form), an evaluation of the student’s academic record (Nominator Form) and an evaluation of the student’s community service and leadership activities(Recommender Form) by the deadline

Three (3) Gromet Foundation scholarship applications are available in G221. Students must satisfy all of the following requirements:
1. The application form must be signed by a school counselor approving the submittal by the applicant.
2. The applicant must be a senior at the high school for which the counselor has certified.
3. The applicant must be a resident of the State of Hawaii and either a U.S. citizen, resident alien, or person holding an asylum status.
4. The applicant must submit each and every item required in the application form, i.e. SAT or ACT scores, transcripts, tax returns, and answers to questions posed in the application form.
5. The applicant must be financially disadvantaged.
6. Application deadline is NOVEMBER 15th.

The Horatio Alger Hawaii Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students in the State of Hawaii who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity and who aspire to pursue higher education. Five $5000 scholarships will be awarded to applicants with at least a 2.0 and are involved in co-curricular and community activites. Completed applications are due on OCTOBER 30, 2011.
